2 Months Until We Say "I Do"

My dad used to leave sticky notes for me before he left for work every morning. I’d peak over the table where I sat for breakfast in the morning to find them. And now this week is the first week I’ve been living in my own house away from him and mom.

Tyler & I are waiting to move in together until the wedding, so it’s been just me in our house for now. And it’s been hard to think how the curly-headed little girl my dad used to write notes for is now living in her own house & walking down the aisle in just two months.

I’ve had peace, & I’ve also been unsettled, knowing that this moment we’re waiting for is turning a new page in our book of life. I won’t carry the last name of my father anymore. My dad won’t be my only protector. It’s been hard to come to grips with some of these changes, & I’ve been asking God to give me some peace about it. Then I came home the other night.

And throughout the house, Tyler had stopped by and left little sticky notes for me. Just like Dad used to do.

And I’m so grateful and excited to marry him. To have another protector and a new last name. To have someone else to write me notes & make me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. Things won’t always be easy, but there will always be love. God could not have given me a better man to fill my dad’s shoes. Two months until he walks me down the aisle & we say “I do.”
