The Truth About Pleasing People
Not everyone is going to like you.
Accept that now.
This is something that has been so hard for me to embrace over the years. There have been times where I questioned why people turned on me, why someone said what they did, why someone wanted to see me fail. It’s hard to accept that. It’s so easy to want acceptance from everyone. It’s easy to get lost in pleasing all the people you meet in life. It’s easy to worry about what people think of you.
But God did not intend for you to carry that burden.
God did not intend for everyone to be on your journey.
It’s not your job to please everyone. Stop being so sensitive over other people’s feelings towards you. Don’t take everything so personal.
Quit trying to please everyone and make them happy.
You just can’t do it. When you try to be who everyone else wants you to be, you risk losing your uniqueness, and, consequently, your excellence.
Understand that God is literally placing the right people in your life and taking the wrong ones away. Don’t fight Him on that. He is working for You every day. Put down those walls you’re building up that’s separating you from Him.
He is your stronghold. Let Him be so.
He is the King of your life. Let Him be so.
You’re so deeply beloved by the one who matters most.
Paul literally tells us in Galatians 1:10 “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
When you choose to be a servant of the world, you lose sight of what God wants for your life and start putting other people’s wants for your life before God’s.
He’s got big plans for you. He did not intend for a series of rain-checks. Listen and respond to what He is saying.
I’m finding more and more that when I put my attention and focus on God, when I truly dig into His Word and what He’s telling me, I am given a peace and fulfillment that no one else could ever provide me with. It’s all about getting lost in His grace. It’s all about getting lost in His love.
You do not belong to the world.
You belong to the one that matters most. And He’s fighting for you. Listen to the words, “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Let go of the control, and give God the reigns.
We all mess up. We all make mistakes. No one is perfect. And the only one who can wipe that all away for us is God. It comes through our relationship with Christ.
Over and over again the Bible warns us about the troubles of solely seeking to please people. And God did not speak so boldly just for us to go and pretend like we didn’t hear Him.
So, no, not everyone is going to like you. Not everyone is going to want you to succeed. This is okay. This is out of your control. Listen to what God is telling you instead. Let go of the need to please and gain acceptance. Let Him take over every area. Trust in His plan for your life, not someone else’s.
