For the Moms with an “Ordinary” Mother’s Day
To the moms who won’t have an extravagant Mother’s Day…
Your day may be ordinary. No overwhelming grand gestures. No extravagant gifts. In fact, it may be the opposite. Cries during church. Clingy babes. Wondering what’s for supper.
It’s easy to become frustrated when our made-up expectations don’t match reality. But I want to remind you of something today…
Maybe those not-so-extravagant things are where the magic happens.
In the mundane. The ordinary. The slow. The simple. In the selflessness you choose each day.
Maybe the magic of motherhood lies in the act of laying down our lives for our families, reflecting the love & sacrifice of Christ. And maybe there’s more beauty in that than you realize.
The world would love to tell you joy comes from what you get. But Jesus & motherhood itself teaches us the greatest joy comes from what we give.
So smile at the simple. Laugh at the little. See the purpose in just being present.
God didn’t make you a mom to compare yourself to another page in someone else’s book. He made you a mom to become more like Him & see the beauty & goodness He’s weaving into your story. And that? That’s pretty extravagant to me.
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
